Burnt Sienna Pumpkin

A wheel-thrown stoneware pumpkin in glossy burnt sienna, with a hand-pulled stem.

The carved ribs catch the glaze and darken, giving the pumpkin some dimension.

This handmade ceramic pumpkin measures roughly 4.25" wide and 4.25" tall with the stem, a good size for a mantel, shelf, or table centerpiece. It has enough weight to sit steady, and it comes back out every fall instead of turning to mush by November.

Wheel-thrown in my McKean County, PA studio using brown speckled stoneware. Each pumpkin is shaped and carved by hand, so the ribs, stem, and the way the two glazes run together vary from piece to piece.
