Meet the Maker

Hi, I’m Heather — the potter behind Keystone Pottery, where every piece is crafted slowly, intentionally, and with a whole lot of heart.

My journey with clay began over two decades ago in a high school ceramics class, and after rekindling that passion as an adult, it’s grown into a fulfilling creative practice rooted in both artistry and place. Working mostly with brown speckled clay from a Pittsburgh supplier, I shape each piece by hand in my home studio nestled in the hills of McKean County, Pennsylvania, near the Allegheny National Forest.

I’m not one for mass production. Every mug, bowl, vase, and soap dispenser starts as a lump of clay on the wheel. Handles are hand-pulled, forms are carefully dried, and each piece is glazed and fired over a multi-week process. From bisque to glaze fire, it takes 2–4 weeks for each item to come to life — and no two are ever quite the same.

At Keystone Pottery, I believe in functional art — pieces made to be used and loved every day. Whether it’s your morning coffee or an evening cup of tea, I hope my pottery adds warmth and intention to your daily rituals. My stoneware is durable, dishwasher-safe, and crafted to stand the test of time.

As a woman-owned, small-batch studio, sustainability is woven into everything I do. I use lead-free, non-toxic glazes that are safe for you and the environment, and I ship every order in plastic-free, eco-conscious packaging. It’s pottery made with care — for you, and for the world we share.

When I’m not at the wheel, I’m surrounded by my favorite creatures: a supportive husband, a few spoiled dogs and cats, and some endlessly entertaining chickens. Life here is a little wild, a little muddy, and full of the quiet beauty that inspires my work. I’m so glad to share it with you.

Peace and love,

Heather
